Holiday Afternoon Tea
A Tradition Steeped in History at The Drake Hotel

Sip your favorite tea while experiencing a Real Chicago tradition at The Drake Hotel. The Holiday Afternoon Tea reservations are available in both Palm Court and on selected dates in Club International.  A live harpist and holiday carolers will be stationed to perform on select dates through Christmas. 

A seating in Palm Court for holiday tea provides views of the Fountain adorned with holiday flora, located adjacent to the lobby.  Adjacent to Palm Court, Club International's décor evokes Real Chicago holiday tradition with a backdrop of rich color and copper hues, to ignite the spirit of the season overlooking the hustle & bustle of Michigan Avenue. 

Holiday Tea service in both Palm Court and in Club International will offer tiered selections including Roasted Turkey with fig whipped brie and smoked pumpernickel and bourbon smoked salmon with cream cheese and apple agro dolce.  Decadent treats of cranberry orange scones and chocolate egg nog bread pudding.  Delicious sweets include beautifully adorned entremets cakes, apple parfait and assorted macarons in holiday flavors.  Select from traditional and holiday blend French teas to steep and sip while embracing the spirit of the season.

Dates & Hours

Holiday Tea Service starts on November 2 to November 17, 2023 on Thursdays through Sundays (12:00pm-4:30pm). Beginning November 18, 2023, tea service will be seven days per week through January 7, 2024 (11:00am – 5:00pm).

Cozy up in Coq d'Or on Christmas Day and delight in holiday cheer over a special menu prepared by Chef Mark Lagges including ‘Snake River Farms’ 24 hour Short Rib, Pomegranate Chimmichurri or Duet of American Lobster Tail and Cape Cod Crabcake, Dijon Beurre Blanc, served with Whipped Camembert Polenta, Smoked Maitake Mushrooms, and Butter Roasted Chayote Squash.

Children visiting Chicago and staying at The Drake Hotel have a new way to get in touch with Santa Claus to secure their nice list status and to put in any last minute urgent requests from Santa and Elves ahead of his big trip around the globe on December 25^th. Children only need to drop their letters into the Christmas- themed red mailbox located in front of the gingerbread village, located in the lobby. The hotel has a direct line to Santa Claus, and he said he’ll be sure to send a response to each child. Letters should include a return address along with the child’s name and age. Letters to Santa begin on November 18^th and will run through December 18^th to give Santa enough time to reply.

The practice of “Calling Dibs” is a long-revered Chicago mainstay of reserving a shoveled-out parking space after a snowfall, with obscure items from lamps to lawn chairs.
