Movie Monday continues in December as we get into the holiday spirit with all your favorite holiday classics.

December

  •  December 1st- Beyond Tomorrow (1940)

The ghosts of three elderly industrialists killed in an airplane crash return to earth to help reunite a young couple whom they initially brought together.

  • · December 8th- Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Watch when a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing in.

  •  December 15th- Scrooge (1935)

Scrooge, the ultimate Victorian miser, hasn't a good word for Christmas, though his impoverished clerk Cratchit and nephew Fred are full of holiday spirit. But in the night, Scrooge is visited by spirits of another color. Straightforward adaptation of Dickens.

  •  December 22nd- ​It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

Watch as an angel helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman by showing what life would have been like if he never existed. 

  • · December 29th- A White Christmas (1954)

A successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general.

Movie Mondays are held every Monday at 7PM in the Palm Court. To prepare for the holiday festivities, Movie Monday will begin at 7:30PM starting November 17th through the rest of the year. Movie Monday is free and open to the public. Enjoy a movie menu including themed cocktails and complimentary popcorn with the purchase of a beverage. Seating based on availability.

2012 NextGenJazz Series: Thursdays in Palm Court

The Drake Hotel and Palm Court are excited to Partner with the Jazz Institute of Chicago and Chicago Jazz Magazine to bring you NextGenJazz- The Series:

Drake Hotel partners with Jazz Institute of Chicago to showcase young talent on Chicago jazz scene Beginning March 1, 2012, the Drake Hotel , 140 E. Walton, will host a dynamic young lineup of Chicago jazz talent on the first three Thursdays of each month through May. Presented in partnership with the Jazz Institute of Chicago and Chicago Jazz Magazine, the NextGenJazz series provides jazz trios with a three-week engagement at the Drake Hotel’s Palm Court. There is no cover charge. The Jazz Institute of Chicago has a longstanding history of programming and presenting world-class jazz concerts at no cost including the Chicago Jazz Festival, JazzCity, and Made In Chicago: World Class Jazz concert series.
