Historic Chicago Hotel Named Bright Blue Futures Award Winner
CHICAGO – March 9, 2016 – The Drake Hotel was recently honored with the 2015 Hilton Hotels & Resorts Brand Award for Bright Blue Futures in the Americas. This annual recognition celebrates the outstanding accomplishments by Hilton hotels and team members around the world. As an award recipient The Drake Hotel has demonstrated the highest level of quality and service throughout the brand.
“Being the recipient of this award is a tribute to the remarkable team members who continually realize Conrad Hilton’s vision to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality, in the inner city communities we serve, “ said Damien McArdle, general manager, The Drake Hotel. “Blue Energy is in team members’ DNA. Their ongoing Bright Blue Futures efforts to mentor and provide meaningful real-work activities will create stability and confidence in our communities.”
To support Hilton Worldwide’s Creating Opportunities for Youth in Hospitality, The Drake made a commitment over the long term to the global community relations program by tailoring activities to address local needs. A fine example is Executive Chef Herve Cuyeu’s quarterly support of the non-profit culinary youth program, After School Matters, where teens become apprentices in the arts. To be an After School Matters program provider is to make a pledge toward improving the lives of Chicago’s teens and maximizing their full potential. During the holidays, Chef Cuyeu guided the teens in by building the annual Drake Hotel Gingerbread House every day after school for a month. Their efforts were realized during the magical holiday season, when they unveiled the 4-foot-tall, 6-foot-wide and 3-feet-deep gingerbread house resembling the Historic Hotels of America in honor of its 95th Anniversary. It was on display for thousands of guests who call The Drake home for the holidays and to capture selfies as a keepsake. As a leader of Bright Blue Futures, Chef Cuyeu is an engaged advisor creating and ensuring the success of youth in hospitality.
