According to Stanford University Professor Carl Degler we can thank WWII for “Brunch.” In 1980 Degler was quoted in the Chicago Tribune stating, “After World War II, large numbers of American married women entered the workforce for the first time. Married women needed a relief on Sunday, too, thus the rise in popularity of Sunday brunch eaten out.” Coincidentally, every year since WWII The Drake has offered Easter, Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving brunches.
Because Easter and Mother’s Day are a mere three weeks away from one another The Drake will offer a 10% discount with the purchase of both events. This spring, join us for traditional holiday brunches in our Gold Coast Ballroom, complete with elaborate dishes, live entertainment, and a kids’ room filled with festive activities. Both brunches begin at 9:30 AM with seatings every half an hour through 3 PM.
